Mainland Clearwater and the beach

Clearwater is the county seat, lying west of Tampa and north of St. Petersburg, and it has two quite different sides. On the mainland are neighborhoods, offices and condo communities. Across the water, Clearwater Beach is on a separate barrier island across the Intracoastal Waterway, reached by the Clearwater Memorial Causeway, SR 60. We cover both, but the sessions often look different depending on which side you are on.

Spring training and sports

BayCare Ballpark is the spring training home of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Clearwater Threshers, so baseball is part of the local calendar. Baseball players tend to complain about the same areas: throwing shoulders, tight hips and lower backs. Sports massage is the session to ask about when you play, and it can be timed around practice or a game.

On the beach side

The beach stretches 2.5 miles along the Gulf, and Pier 60 has a fishing pier, a playground and a daily sunset event. A paved bicycle trail parallels the Memorial Causeway, and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium is just up the causeway. Riders, walkers and visitors with children cover a lot of ground by the end of the day. The Beach Walk area has high-end hotels and condos, and the resort stretch is full of hotel and condo guests who are on their feet for hours.

If you are staying in a hotel, ask the front desk whether outside therapists are allowed. If they are, we can come to the room. For condos and rentals, tell the manager that a visitor is coming with a massage table and confirm where to park. After a day of walking the sand, sports massage and stretching loosens calves and hips, and Swedish massage offers a lighter full-body option for vacation evenings.

Getting across the bay and the bridges

From St. Petersburg we head north on the main roads of Pinellas, then cross to the barrier island by the Memorial Causeway for beach addresses. On busy days, traffic on the causeway can slow us down, so tell us your check-in window if you are traveling and we will leave room. The Courtney Campbell Causeway, SR 60, is a different crossing linking Clearwater with Tampa. It joins the Ream Wilson Clearwater Trail and the Pinellas Trail and has two beaches along the way.

Deep tissue for stubborn tension

If the real trouble is a back, neck or shoulder that has been tight for weeks, deep tissue massage offers slow, firm work on the muscles involved. It is a good fit for desk workers on the mainland and for visitors who sat through a long flight to get here.
