How Deep Is Deep Tissue Massage? As Deep as You Want.
Perfect Touch 727 brings deep tissue massage to your home, condo or hotel in St. Petersburg, with slow, focused pressure that reaches the knots in your neck, shoulders, back and hips. You set how deep we go, we check in as we work, and you get real release without gritting your teeth through it.
Deep work, set to you
Our deep tissue massage is for the tight spots that will not let go: the knotted upper back from desk work, the neck and shoulders that creep up toward your ears, the low back and glutes that stiffen after a long day. We find those areas, work them slowly and thoroughly, and keep checking that the pressure is right for you. All at your place, with the table and everything else brought to you.
Depth comes from technique, not force
Deep tissue is named for the layers it reaches, the deeper muscle and the connective tissue around it, not for how hard anyone pushes. We start lighter to warm the area, then sink in slowly as the muscle lets go. Pushing hard on cold, guarded muscle makes it tighten up and fight back, which is why rough deep tissue feels bad and does less.
So the answer to “how deep” is as deep as your body comfortably allows that day, and it can change from one spot to the next.
What it feels like
Slow strokes and sustained pressure on the spots that need it. On a tight shoulder or glute you will feel a deep, satisfying pressure, followed by a sense of release as the muscle softens. Most first-timers are surprised how much they get from moderate pressure.
Sharp pain, pinching, tingling or numbness is never part of it. If you feel any of those, tell us and we change the angle or ease off.
You control the dial
We start with a short conversation about where you feel stiff, what you do for work and exercise, and any injuries. Then we build pressure in steps, like a dial from light to firm, and you are in charge of it. If one area is too tender, we work around it and come back later. A desk worker with a knotted upper back gets a different plan from a cyclist with tight hips.
Signs the pressure is right
- You can breathe slowly and evenly
- Your shoulders drop instead of creeping up
- It feels like pressure on a tight spot, not pinching or scraping
- After a minute or so, the spot starts to soften
If that is not happening, we slow down, change the angle or warm up the area around it first.
Deep tissue or sports massage?
Deep tissue focuses on specific problem areas. Sports massage is organized around your training and includes guided stretching. If you are not sure which fits, our guide to sports massage vs deep tissue helps you choose, or just tell us when you book.
How often to book
People with physical jobs or heavy training often book every couple of weeks. Others come every month or two, or when something flares. Start with one session, notice how long the relief lasts, and book again when it fades. Leave a day or two between very deep sessions.
Afterward and safety
Drink water, move gently and enjoy a warm shower. Because we come to you, you can rest right away instead of driving. If you have a recent injury or surgery, blood clots, a bleeding condition, certain skin conditions, or take blood thinners, check with your doctor first and tell us when you book. Massage works alongside medical care, never instead of it.
Book deep tissue at your place
